Obituary: Genevieve S. Yaworski, 96, of Rome, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2011 in Bethany Gardens after a long illness. She was born November 9, 1914, in Syracuse, the daughter of Stanley and Theodora Ambo Simon. On May 12, 1934, she married Andrew Yaworski in Rome. He passed away October 17, 1994.
Genevieve worked at the Rome State School for several years. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at Transfiguration Church.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Andrea and Kenneth Pouliot, and Dr. Stephanie Yaworski, of Rome; a brother, Joseph Simon, of North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Olga Yaworski, of Rome, and Betty Yaworski, of Lee, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Wood and Josephine Simon, and four brothers, Walter, Matthew, Stanley and John Simon.
Services: A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at TBA at Transfiguration Church. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to your favorite charity, Jervis Library, or Transfiguration Church Memorial Fund.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
